BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO RISERVA DOCG 2012, 92 points - With only 1,000 bottles produced, the 2012 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is a precious wine that might prove difficult to locate. This is a dark and syrupy expression with black fruit aromas of blackberry preserves and prune. You definitely taste the warmth and sunshine in this hot-vintage Sangiovese. The bouquet is intense and rich, but the wine is not as long-lived in terms of mouthfeel. This is a wine of immediate power and volume.

BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO DOCG 2013, 91 points - Poggio Nardone's 2013 Brunello di Montalcino is a darkly saturated and concentrated wine. That color is set, thanks to alcoholic fermentation in steel tanks and malolactic fermentation in oak barrel. The wine then ages in wood for three years. This is a bright, buoyant and super direct Sangiovese with a very immediate delivery of cherry and blackberry fruit flavors. In the mouth, this is a firm and well-structured wine that could do with another few years of bottle aging.

ROSSO DI MONTALCINO 2015 - SCORE 90 POINTS

A dense and chewy red with dark berry and walnut character. A more extracted style. Full body. A little overdone but should come around with a year or two of bottle age.

BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO 2O12 - SCORE 94 POINTS

This is earthy and smoky on the nose with plums and berries. Hints of dried fruit and spices. Full body and a fresh core of ripe berries, plums and bark. Some green tea, too. Very long and flavorful. Persistent and beautiful. Drink now or hold.
